And today my guest is Greg Slota, he is the Founder of Behired!

Chris: Hi there! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and what inspired you to create Behired?

Greg: Hello! I have been creating software products for 14 years for various clients and their customers like Google, SpaceX, Rolex, Alstom and many others. All this time and experience gave me solid foundations to also start building my own startups. The first one was an aggregation tool for the real estate market. Behired is the second one.

The inspiration behind Behired appeared in February 2023 when a friend of mine was struggling with writing a cover letter. I said “why not try to create one with AI?” and then it started. I spent a couple of evenings making the MVP version of Behired. I pushed it to production, created a simple low budget Google Search Ad and time to the first sale was… 20 minutes.

Chris: How does Behired’s AI technology differentiate itself from other AI-powered job matching platforms? What are its unique capabilities?

Greg: Behired is not just about job matching. It’s a comprehensive tool for job seekers and applicants that helps them efficiently apply for a job and go through the hiring process. That’s its unique capability. With Behired you can check if a job offer is suitable for you, create a professional cover letter and see potential interview questions and answers. All tailored based on your work experience and the job offer.

Chris: What specific metrics does Behired use to measure its success in connecting job seekers with suitable employment opportunities?

Greg: Amount and activity of subscribers is the measure of success in this case. We gain dozens of new subscribers every day who use Behired very actively. Most active users are able to apply even to 50 job offers in two weeks while being a strong candidate to most of them.

Chris: What were the key milestones or turning points in the development of Behired from concept to reality?

Greg: The concept to reality time was super quick thanks to my previous product related experience and using no-code tools like Bubble. Key milestones appeared after the MVP launch when I was extremely carefully tracking users activity, satisfaction and feedback.

One of the key milestones was the moment of fine-tuning the business model from an ad-hoc cover letter generation tool into a job application assistance platform. That allowed it to offer the subscription model that was then proven to deliver more value to the users with a more attractive price.

Chris: How did you overcome the initial challenges of funding and establishing Behired in a competitive market?

Greg: Honestly I did just a little bit of the competition analysis. Behired is available globally in 5 languages so the market is huge. It is a matter of bringing high quality leads that convert thanks to high business value offered.

Behired is 100% bootstrapped by myself – I was able to create it by myself including design, coding and marketing. Lack of investors gives me full control over the business which is profitable from day one.

Chris: Can you elaborate on the specific pain points that Behired addresses in the job application process for both job seekers and employers?

Greg: The following pain points are solved by Behired (all tailored on your work profile and exact job offer):

• Job match: you can check your match score to a given job offer. Behired will also provide your strengths and weaknesses you need to consider when applying and being interviewed.
• Cover letter creation: a candidate needs to write a cover letter for each job offer that requires it. Behired creates professional and customizable cover letters in seconds.
• Interview preparation: it is hard to prepare for an interview. Behired comes with help providing a list of potential questions that may be brought up and exemplary answers (based on your experience!)

Chris: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are facing similar challenges in launching their own tech startups?

Greg: I believe the best advice I can give taking the learnings from Behired is: start simple with validating your business idea and be super close to your users. Understanding their behaviors and listening to their asks will tell you the right directions your business should grow.
